Laudato Si’ Week
HOPE FOR THE EARTH.
HOPE FOR HUMANITY.
The Church in Australia is this week celebrating Laudato Si’ Week, marking eight years since the publication of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on care for creation.
This global celebration will unite Catholics to rejoice in the progress we have made in bringing Laudato Si’ to life.
Hope for the earth. Hope for humanity will be celebrated with the film The Letter: A message for our earth which explores the consequences of climate change through the voices of the poor, young people, indigenous peoples and others who met with Pope Francis last year. For more information go to https://laudatosiweek.org/ The film is streaming for free at the letterfilm.org and You Tube Originals.
On Sunday, Pope Francis will open Laudato Si’ Week, which for the rest of the world takes place on May 21–28. Australia celebrates Laudato Si Week one week earlier (May 16–24) so it does not clash with the national Reconciliation Week, May 27–June 3.
