St Dominic’s Day

If a saint is someone who makes others want to be saints, then Dominic was indeed a saint. He seems to have spoken intensely with God and eloquently about God and still speaks to us of God today. As an active contemplative, a contemplative itinerant, a mendicant who begged for food and begged God for mercy, a preacher of grace, a preaching friar, he was someone who loved God with his whole heart and his neighbour as if she were his very self. He was a friend of God who befriended others and eventually an Order of Preachers.
Praedicator gratiae, nos junge beatis.
“Preacher of grace, unite us with the blessed.”
– an antiphon in honour of St Dominic
